Tour overview

Expect long but rewarding driving days broken up by viewpoints, village stops and short walks. It suits older students who are comfortable with early starts in exchange for seeing mountains, earthen architecture and desert in a short window.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n'Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades

    Early departure over the High Atlas with stops at mountain viewpoints and Amazigh villages. Guided visit of Ait Ben Haddou before continuing through Ouarzazate to the Dades Valley for the night.

    Driving: Approx. 7–8 hours with stops

  2. Day 2: Dades – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

    Morning walk in the Todra Gorge, then on through palm oases and desert towns. Late afternoon camel trek or 4x4 transfer into the Erg Chebbi dunes for sunset and a night in a desert camp.

    Driving: Approx. 5–6 hours with stops

  3. Day 3: Merzouga – Draa Valley region – Ouarzazate area

    Optional sunrise from the dunes, breakfast at camp, then a long drive west through the pre-Saharan landscapes with breaks for lunch and photos.

    Driving: Approx. 7–8 hours with stops

  4. Day 4: Return to Marrakech

    Cross the High Atlas again and arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon, with time for a group debrief or a final walk in the medina.

    Driving: Approx. 4–5 hours

Driving times are estimates and depend on road conditions, weather and the number of stops.

Accommodation

Riads, guesthouses, hotels and a desert camp where relevant, chosen to suit student groups. The exact properties and level are confirmed in your proposal.

Meals

Usually breakfast daily and dinners on the road and at the desert camp. Meal plans are agreed in the proposal and dietary needs can be planned in advance.

Typically included

Private transport with driver, accommodation as agreed, meals as agreed, desert camp and camel trek or 4x4 where the route includes the Sahara. Final inclusions are listed in your proposal.

Not included

International flights, travel insurance, personal expenses, tips and anything not listed in your proposal.

October to April. Summer desert heat is intense; winter desert nights are cold, so pack warm layers.

Is the camel trek required?

No. A 4x4 transfer to the desert camp can replace the camel trek for anyone who prefers it.
