Morocco Student Travel Guide

How to Plan a School Trip to Morocco

A practical, step-by-step checklist for teachers and group leaders — from first idea to the day you land.

1. Start with your learning goals

Decide what the trip is for before choosing places. A geography trip suits a mountains-to-desert route; a history or culture trip may focus on Fes, Marrakech and the kasbah route. Clear goals make every later decision easier.

2. Choose dates and length

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons. Check Ramadan dates, local holidays and your own term calendar. Reaching the Sahara needs at least four days; five to seven days allows a calmer pace.

3. Get internal approval early

Most schools need senior leadership approval, a risk assessment and a staffing plan well before booking. Ask us for an outline itinerary and accommodation details to support your paperwork.

  • Staff-to-student ratio required by your school
  • Risk assessment and emergency plan
  • Insurance arrangements
  • Parental consent process

4. Understand what affects the price

Group size, number of days, accommodation level, transport, activities and meals all change the group price. Ask for a proposal with clear inclusions and exclusions so you can compare like with like.

5. Inform parents

Hold a short information session covering the itinerary, accommodation, supervision, communication during the trip, packing and dress expectations. Parents usually feel reassured by a written day-by-day plan.

6. Collect the right information

Before departure gather passport details for flights, dietary needs and allergies, relevant medical information (held by the school), a rooming list and emergency contacts.

7. Prepare students

A pre-trip lesson on Moroccan culture, a few words of Darija or French, and clear expectations on dress and behaviour help students get much more from the experience.
