Morocco Student Travel Guide
Best Time for a Student Trip to Morocco
Season-by-season advice for planning around weather, academic calendars and Ramadan.
The short answer
For most student groups, spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to November) offer the best balance: comfortable temperatures in the cities, pleasant days in the desert and green valleys in the mountains.
Spring: March to May
Spring lines up well with Easter breaks for schools and spring breaks for universities. Days are warm but not hot, and the oases are green. Desert nights can still be cool, so pack a warm layer.
Summer: June to August
Coastal towns such as Essaouira stay mild, but Marrakech, Fes and the Sahara can be very hot. If summer is your only option, keep desert time short, plan visits early and late in the day, and consider adding the coast or the Atlas.
Autumn: September to November
Another excellent window. Temperatures drop after the summer peak and the light is beautiful for photography. This suits faculty-led programs that run at the start of the academic year.
Winter: December to February
Cities are mild and sunny during the day, but nights are cold everywhere and very cold in the desert and mountains. Snow can close high Atlas passes for short periods, so we build flexibility into winter routes.
Ramadan and public holidays
Ramadan moves each year with the lunar calendar. Travel continues normally, and experiencing it respectfully can be educational, but some opening hours change. We will flag relevant dates when you send your request.
